Last week, the fashion elite gathered in Denmark’s capital to preview the Fall 2025 collections at Copenhagen Fashion Week. While New York traditionally marks the start of “Fashion Month,” Copenhagen offers an early glimpse into the trends set to dominate retailers in the coming months. This event also delivers abundant outfit inspiration, as CPHFW attendees effortlessly balance minimalist functionality, bold color palettes, and the distinct Scandi-cool aesthetic that has defined the fashion week for over a decade.
Nordstrom’s associate fashion director—and prominent street style figure—Linda Cui Zhang was among the insiders at the week-long event, which showcased collections from Danish powerhouses such as OpéraSport, Stine Goya, Caro Editions, and more. Below, she highlights the Copenhagen Fashion Week trends she predicts will take over this fall.
Copenhagen Fashion Week Fall 2025 Trends
Inventive Layering
“I loved how brands added depth to outfits through layering and artistic color blocking. At Aiayu, each look was presented twice—first in its original form, then with added layers like coats, knit hoods, or trousers under skirts. Birrot embraced tonal layering, featuring head-to-toe gray and burgundy looks, while MKDT Studios showcased a tailored approach with doubled-up coats, sharp collars emerging from tweedy suits, and pleated skirt belts over knits.”
Skirt Over Pant
“This trend brought a fresh, gender-fluid take to traditional tailoring, merging masculine and feminine elements seamlessly.”
Hosiery as a Statement
“Designers had fun with tights, socks, and knee-highs, turning them into focal styling pieces. The Garment featured sheer and gray ribbed knit tights, A. Roege Hove embraced white stockings and full stocking-dressed looks, Anne Sofie Madsen introduced embellished tights, and Stine Goya matched patterned tights with dresses. Tights were also a major highlight in Copenhagen’s street style scene.”
Expressive Hats
“From oversized gardening hats with upturned brims at Caro Editions to pom-pom beanies at Nicklas Skovgaard and exaggerated pillbox hats at MKDT Studios, headwear was a key accessory. Whether whimsical or sleek, hats became a statement piece reflecting individuality.”
Fuzzy Faux Furs
“Designers showcased plush, tactile, and high-pile sustainable alternatives to traditional fur, proving that cozy and conscious fashion can go hand in hand.”
A Pop of Pink
“Pink brought vibrancy and joy to the runways. From Skall Studio’s monochrome knitwear ensembles to the maximalist knits at Nicklas Skovgaard, this playful hue made a lasting impact.”
Classic Checks with a Twist
“A countryside-inspired aesthetic emerged through colorful checks, seen in Caro Editions’ coats, Stine Goya’s gradient dress-and-tights combos, Rolf Ekroth’s technical outerwear, and Skall Studio’s plaid skirts.”
With these standout trends, Copenhagen Fashion Week once again cements its status as a trailblazer in global fashion, setting the tone for what’s to come in Fall 2025.
